Meet The Board Members

Glynna Reser Graduated UTHSCSA for Dental Assisting in 1988 and Dental Hygiene in 1992. 

Married my Kevin in 1989 and has 2 amazing children, Kristal (Blake) and Travis (Jaymi). The "smartest" grandson, Brady and granddaughter, Reese. 

In 2000, she started leading youth groups across the Mexico/Texas border doing VBS and construction mission work.

She led her first dental/medical team to Peru in 2004- the rest is history. 

Her  passion is sharing the love of service to not only dental/medical professionals but to everyone that wants to utilize their God given talents to be the hands and feet of Jesus. 

No borders for sharing the gospel and the good news. 

Making a difference one person, one adventure, one experience  at a time. 

​Born in Texas, James moved to Arizona as a child and came back to Texas to study at Hardin-Simmons University and currently resides in the Texas Hill Country.

He has been married to Jennye for over 40 years!

James has 30+ years experience in leading and working with mission teams.

Elvia was born and raised in the Texas Hill Country where she currently resides.

She graduated from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2010 and is a Registered Dental Hygienist. 

Her first mission trip was to Nicaragua at the age of 15 where she felt the call to help others in need and even now continues to enjoy getting to know people's stories and learning about their culture. 

In her time off, Elvia enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Delaine is an "Angel", the title for non-medical team members.  Her specialty is making friends with those who visit our clinics and making them feel welcome and loved.  She specifically handles the craft and games area dubbed "glitter heaven"!  And, she fills in wherever is needed to assist the dental team and mission. 

Outside of Starfish Ministry of Texas, she has been a part of her local church's children's area for over 10 years, teaching Sunday School, AWANAS, and loving on the kiddos as opportunities arise. 

Kristi has been self-employed for 25 years providing a cleaning service to many homes in the Hill Country area

Loving all things vintage, she has a vintage business as a "side hustle".

She is married to James Neal and mother to Jessica, Dale and Jeffery and has “seven of the greatest kids alive!” as grandchildren!

She has been doing mission work with Starfish co-director, Glynna for over 15 years ago and hasn't missed a trip to Peru since! She also has had the blessing to serve on many other mission trips and states she “never fails to be amazed at the blessings each one bestows upon me!”

Julie was born and raised in Amarillo,TX and has lived in Boerne for 27 years.

Now retired, she was a Registered Dental Hygienist for 34 years.

She is married, has 5 adult children and 8 PRECIOUS grandchildren!

Aside from mission work, she enjoys spending time with her family and growing plants!

As an active dental hygienist specializing in pediatric dentistry, Diedra Smith has been helping children put their best smile forward for the past 17 years. The most rewarding part of her career is the relationships cultivated with both the child and parent while creating a positive dental experience and life-long precedent.

In 2023, she earned her Masters of Science in Dental Hygiene with an emphasis on public health from the UT Health Science Center-SA. 

Born in Victorville, CA to military parents, she was no stranger to moving from state to state. Eventually in 1994, they laid their roots in San Antonio, TX where she currently resides with her two children Jaden and Cheyenne. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling while making memories with her family. 

Carmela has been a practicing clinical hygienist for about 9 years and in the dental field a total of 16!

She is passionate about dental education and helping her patients with their oral hygiene. Currently, she works at a community dental clinic in San Antonio, TX.

When not working Carmela enjoys spending time with family and friends and serving at her church on the hospitality team

Carmela is passionate about traveling the world, doing God’s work and hopes to inspire people!

Patty has been a Registered Dental Assistant for 25 years! She currently lives and works in the Texas Hill Country. She has been married for 25 years and has 3 children.
